"The flash mob" by Thibaud

In this day of Christmas holidays, I will speak to you about a song and an event, which remind us of the summer holidays (synonymous with sun and party).

On September 8th, the Black Eyed Peas group occurred in Chicago (Michigan Avenue) with their famous title “I Gotta Feeling”, and gathered 21,000 fans who dance all together. This concert was organized in honor of Oprah Winfrey, a famous presenter TV in the USA, who launched the 24th season of his talk show (The Oprah Show’s).

For the production, the project was simple: to gather together a large number of fans at the same place and at the same time to organize an immense flash mob. The flash mob is a gathering of people in a public place to execute together operations (agreed in advance by Internet).

The organizers had infiltrated the main social networks (Facebook, Twitter) to inform the participants on the operation: places of appointment, choreography to be learned and finally the precise hour and place.

This flash mob was exceptional, because there were nearly 20,000 people who get together to sing and dance on “I Gotta Feeling”: it is the largest flash mob of the History. Before Black Eyed Peas it was Mickael Jackson who held the record of people for a flash mob : nearly 14,000 people had danced together on “Thriller” in Mexico.

The director Michael Gracey says the interaction between the Black Eyed Peas and the crowd is what made the flash mob so extraordinary. "There's something really special when you take an audience and instead of just being passive and watching, you invite them to participate," he says: "That's why it was so magical for both parties. Two groups of people came together to create something that neither of them could have done alone."Oprah Winfrey was not only shocked, she was thrilled! The Black Eyed Peas reacted: “This is the best performance I have ever had of my life !”.

Song “I Gotta Feeling” is resulting from the album The E.N.D (short for The Energy Never Dies). It was sold with 200,000+ (2x Platinum) specimens in France. I like this album…

I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy New Year 2010 !

The "Cantal" by Julien

The “Cantal” departement is a wonderful region for the reasons following: the culture, the lifestyle, the way of thinking and naturally the food. I think that if we arise of this region, it is easier for understand the behavior of local people. It is a shape of sharing.

Then the way of thinking, it is a rural and rustic way of thinking, but it is not pejorative. It is a characteristic.

Then the “Cantal” has its own culture. The first thing is the dialect which is a local language. The second thing is its dance which is “la bourrée”.

Then the “Cantal” has its gastronomy, with different cheeses, with different specialities.

The different cheeses are “le cantal, le salers, le bleu d’auvergne, le pavé d’Aurillac, la fourme d’Ambert and le saint-nectaire”, which have different parfums and flavours.
The different specialities are “l’aligot, la truffade and le pounti“.

Then the “cantal” has its alcohols: “la salers, l’avèze”.

This region is such a region with magnificient landscapes and numerous wild spaces, as the mountains.

The festival of Lights by Edith

Source : www.lumieres2007.lyon.fr
The festival of lights in Lyon is each year the most important event in the city during the year ; floods of tourists invade the town during four days and they come from all over France and even Europe !
Lights change every year and public places and monuments are really wonderful !
The origin of this event comes from 1643, the Virgin Mary protected Lyon from the horrible pest which devasted the south of France; When this epidermis was over, religious people pay homage to the virgin every 8th of December !
It used to be very simple and friendly, people decorate their windows with candles and the shop-windows were remarkable too. Now it’s become a matter of money !
Anyway, it contributes to improve the image of Lyon as one of the most beautiful city of France !

So let's go to Lyon the next week end...

Handball

Hi everybody,

I would like to talk to you about Handball; Handball is the French sport in which are won most competition. The first competition was won in 1995, five years later they won again. “Les barjots” (the nickname of the team) became world champions. Earlier, the team had finished third in the olympic games of Barcelona in 1992 and second in world competition in 1993.

Since, the name of the team has changed twice, and the team won a lot of competitions.

In 2001 after the victory in the world championship, many players stoped playing like Jackson Richardson.
The new nickname was then “les costauds”. This team won the European championship in 2006. One year later they lost against the German team in semi final. The referee was paid by the German team (allegedly, because he was very unfair for the French team).

In 2008 the team name changed again they became: “les experts”. They win for the first time the Olympique game 2008. And one year later they won for the third time the world championship in 2009.

Memories, memories!!!

Hello everybody,
Today I would like to speak about the 3 first months at ESLI.
Indeed, already 3 months have passed since the start of the new school year.
Let’s remember the first day!!! Everybody looks at each other and exchanges looks with everybody…
The first questions were:
Hello! What’s your name? Where do you come from? What did you study before ESLI?... what‘s your name??? I don’t remember!!!

Do you remember the first lesson “Dynamique de groupe”, we introduced each other in front of the rest of the class and we worked in pairs. Do you remember the circle which we have done; we had to learn the name of each other! Not easy at the moment but 3 months after it seems ridiculous and obvious but that is not easy to learn each name.
Now the lessons have begun well and above all we must look for an internship!
There are still 2 month to do and we will have a well-deserved rest during Christmas!
After 2 weeks holiday, we will begin our internship.
After 3 weeks, we will meet again even more to others adventures!!!

Good luck to everybody and happy Christmas!!!

"A bright smile" by Yan

Hello everybody!

After my “shoes article”, I decide today to present you a man that I admire a lot. I am going to speak highly of that great character. In order to be the most understandable, I divided my presentation in 2 points : In a first time, I am going to present you his birth and his background. Furthermore, in a second time, I am going to speak about his very attractive appearance.

1) Background

He was born on the 30th of July 1988. His Hometown is in Saint Cast les Gladieux, so we can assert he is a Breton for real.

For two years, he lived in Kemper where he spent a lot of time to learn and to analyse logistics lessons. He has a real passion for the MRP and all logistics method that’s why he decided to go on. He is on the right track and now he wants to gain more knowledge of logistics. He owns skills and it’s certain that he will be a famous manager.
When he doesn’t work on logistics, that man “tries” to play volleyball but it’s not simple with his handicap. Indeed, the first time you see him, you will immediatly notice his "hair problem". Concerning volleyball, it’s important to note that he manages a team. We can say he is a team leader and he is intends on givng pleasure around him.

What’s more he loves surf and water sports in general.

If you want to meet him, it’s important to be present in the music festival in Britain (Vieilles Charues, Bobital…)

2) Appereance

Thanks to his shoe examination, we can notice several points which show his state of mind :

- The several colors on his shoes show he is original (maybe crazy) and he has artistic skills.
- He wears basketball shoes that’s why we can say he’s rather cool & zen. He stays calm in all situations.

He often grins from ear to ear because he owns a bright smile. He is always ready to help and to assit people. He has a nice face and makes jokes everyday. He is sociable and laughs heartily.

He is highly recommended by the girls but it’s important to notice this man lives a wonderful love story with an Angélique.

I have known that man for 2 years and it was a real love at first sight.

There is a lot to say about that phenomenon but I think you guessed who he is…

I am available to discuss with you about him any day that would be convenient for you.

"Breakestra" by Jean-Baptiste B.

Hi everybody,

Please forget about the song “Wuthering heights” from Kate Bush (Thanks Tony !!!!!!!!!)…
Put your best sneakers, your best cap, we’re going to Los Angeles with the crew Breakestra.

This group, formed by Miles Tacket “Music man miles” and mix master wolf was born ten years ago.
At the beginning, both was Dj’s (rap, funk 70’s, old school breaks) and managed their Rootdown party in the rootdown club with more and more people each week-end. They decided to make a band to play the origin of hip hop music, the FUNK.

Their first full album “Hit the floor” released in 2006 was a hit:
“At first listen, I thought it was recorded in the 70’s” said Ahmir Thomson aka ?uestlove from the Roots crew.

They made a worlwide tour, playing in smalls concert halls. They came to Paris (guests of the famous What’s tha funk party) in 2007, at the Maroquinerie.

They released their new album “Dusk till dawn”.
This one is dedicated to DJ Dusk, who has contributed to record with Chali2na ( Jurassic 5) on the 13th song, and who died last year, in a car accident.
He was Dj at the rootdown club too. This album, is more soulfull than the other (to my mind). Some songs with fluggehorn and Horn section are less dry than the other but the recipe between old school funk and originals breaks is good as always with this group.
If you want to understand what I’m talking about, please check and see the link below:
http://video.google.fr/videoplay?docid=5244145750622754166&ei=9FrXSuiTItyf-AbsnOmwCg&q=breakestra+live&hl=fr
Breakestra will be on stage at “Le Jam” in La Chapelle sur Erdre (less than hour from Redon) this Saturday for 6 euros !!!!!

Hope to see you there

Keep it funky

Does the American English exist ?

Hello every body, let's talk about some cultural facts !!

A famous writer said that Britain and America were divided by the same language.
Even today, hundreds of books and articles pour into the market, affirming or denying the existance of a true american language.

Some say that the differences between British and American language are lexical only, while others insist that in hundred years time, British and American will need an interpreter to understand each other.
So, what is the truth behind this great debate? In fact, it is very difficult to be definitive.
Of course, thare many differences in word usage, and a british visitor can often have more difficulty to understand his American cousins that non-native English speakers (frenchies for example).
This funny example will show us the great rivalery between American and British :

An American was driving through New York with British friend when it started to rain.
US man : I can hardly see through the windshield (pare brise)
BR man : You mean the windscreen?
BR man : After all, we invented the language.
US man : I mean the windshield, after all we invented the automobile.

Aimane (hey man !)

MONSTER GARAGE

Hello everybody!

Monster Garage is a game show broadcast on the AB MOTOR Channel.
The scene takes place in Long Beach in California and is presented by Jesse James, a famous for custom chopper and his west Coast Chopper shop.

Each show consists in realizing a mechanical and weird challenge on the car like for example transforming a police car into a Donut machine, a school bus changed into a pontoon boat and a fire truck in Tank for beer.

This challenge is realized by a Team of five persons in one week with a budget of $5000.
These persons are professionals or amateurs who have a same passion for building and modifying cars.

The first day is reserved to conception of the car by a designer and Jesse James: the car must keep the original appearance.

The next five days are reserved to the transformation of the car: chassis, motor, body, accessories for the challenge.

If the challenge is a success, the team is rewarded with expensive tool kits. The car is painted to have an original style. Finally the car is tested by Jesse James in the real conditions.
When a team fails to complete a vehicle in time, it is destroyed with spectacular effects by Jesse James like example to destroy with a war tank or with an explosion in the desert.

According to me, this game show is a good thing to learn the mechanical engineering because the building of project is very detailed and we have got a good time.

The Woodstock festival is a music festival and an emblematic grouping of hippie culture of sixties. It was situated in Bethel at 60 kilometers of Woodstock in the state of New York in the US. Basket ball

Hello everybody!

I would like to create a basket ball team, if we could have a room, we could play basket ball every week. Yesterday we have played on the outdoor field close to the soccerfield. We were six persons from ESLI to play. It was a funny game but tiring game.

The sport helps to know the persons we use to work with and permits to build links.

During this year we would organize many sport meetings including other sports like rudby, soccer... If you have any ideas to propose, you can tell it to the BDS wich is in charge of organising sport meetings.

"University of Florida Zombie" by Thibaud

In the college, the class stops when the ringing sounds… or when the fire alarm resounds !
Indeed, a large majority of French students have already made trainings to know how to react at the time of a starting point of fire.
In the United States, the University of Florida has a “Disaster Preparedness” manual, which include what to do during a hurricane evacuation, a natural disaster or even a nuclear fall out.
But now a zombie attack has been included (it’s always good to be prepared ^^) ! This manual was written by an employee at the school's office to “add a little bit of levity” to the discussions of preparation of disaster.
In this manual of six pages, he explains how to react in the invasion of deaths alive, while specifying that these individuals are likely to emit “a lot of strange moaning”.
This plan was available on the school website, but it was now removed, because officials have explain that it was a joke and that it “didn’t really belong” amongst the very serious instructions for pandemics.
To note, that the employee, who wrote it, will be not punished.

"Citroën 2CV" by Julien

I’m sorry for those who believe that the citroën 2CV is an antiquity or oldfashioned car, or they believe that this exceptionnal car was dead, but I have some bad news for them. The citroën 2CV come back and it will have the name of Citroën Revival or Revolte.

The 2CV collectivelly called “la deuche” will have round forms but nevertheless agressive forms remind his glorious inspirer. It will adopt a cosy spirit and lounge. The cokpit associates sober and lively colours. There will be photovoltaic cells implanted outside to feed the equipements of edge, and the back-lit glass cup placed in the radiator calender to emphasize the famous chevrons.

But nothing indicates for the moment that this one really made the return soon.
I think that other constructers should have the same idea, because I think that it’s a very good idea to give a second youth for old cars.

"Repeat offenders" by Sophie

Hello everybody,
Today, I would like to talk to you about a tragic short news item which calls into question the follow up of the repeat offender (récidiviste).
Indeed, a week ago a woman was killed by a repeat offender yet who was sentenced to 11 years in imprisonment in 2002 to the rape and the kidnapping of a teenager of 13 years old. But in 2007, he got a release on parole with a police control.
I think the authorities must look after this problem with attention because it repeats more often and it is other persons who pay again and again!!!
In my opinion, a better imply of the police and of course of the government is necessary to increase the security. Moreover, it will be important the government think about a real reform to reduce risks of repeat offence.
Everybody is concerned!

"Good morning!" by François

Like everybody, I hate open my eyes the morning. So, I'm wonder why we don't achieve to wake up in great conditions.

When we sleep and dream, we pass in another world where anything is possible. Normally, each night is different like each day. But, sometimes, the same dream comes back in your memory and you can imagine that will arrived in the future. Several predictions happen and we have a sensation of « déjà vu »...
In short, we hope to put a good night and make sweet dreams but each morning we remenber just a little part of our night.

To conclude, every morning, we leave our bed after an always too short night (sometimes with hangover...), we have forgotten all memories of dreams and we begin a new day of hard working. We try to imagine a better way to wake up in the best conditions.

So everybody, I wish a good luck for each morning at ESLI and after. You are stronger than your sleep. If you want to talk about this fatality, I'm at your disposal.
Sweet dreams...

"Shoes’ power…" by Yann

For many of us, shoes are objects of ordinary consumption. However, for me, they reflect the personality of the wearer. Indeed thanks to the shoes I can have a clear and just idea of anyone on first contact.

Thanks to shoes, we can learn a lot about girls for example. Indeed, each model has a message. Thus, there are shoes that say “careful”, this girl looks nice, but it is an illusion. What’s more we can find the shoes which say that this girl may be a good girlfriend but no more. Finally, there are shoes which show that a woman is little crazy, she can please you.

The reasons to believe in my philosophy:

· The shoes that we wear are the result of our choices, so they necessarily reflect our personality ...
· Someone wearing basketball shoes seems to be relaxed, the presence of some colors can show an artistic side, the dress shoes give a sense of responsibility for the wearer ...
· In a Recruitment agency, shoes are the first things considered.
· We can say a lot of things on people if we look at their shoes : Where they go and where they went.
· The shoes reflect a way of being, an attitude… A change of shoes reflect a change of behavior…A change of shoe models is not without consequences and it marks a change of personality

Moral: be careful if your girlfriend changed shoes ... this may be more severe than expected ...

I’m available to discuss about this philosophy with anyone who is interested !

Thanks of population of San Francisco, the Church and the media, she’s get out of this. A child comes to the police center and says to an other inspector that there is a man who kidnapped and killed children at his ranch and he recognises the son of Christine on a picture; he was in the ranch! The killer is arrested and condemned and the trial of San Francisco’s police occurs.
Five Years after, a child reappears and admits he was at the ranch. He managed to escape himself thanks of the help of Walter but he doesn’t know if he has managed to escape him.
At the end, Christine Collins hopes to find her son in the future…
This film is a wonderful real American story, with Angelina Jolie in a special role.
