The "Puy du Fou" by Samuel



« Puy du Fou » is an historical theme park situated in Les Epesses in Vendée (near Cholet). He was open only from April to September. This park, founded in 1978, functions with 3200 volunteers. It was created around the castle of the Puy du Fou.

Shows are divided in two parts : The “Grand Parcours”, you can visit during the day, and the “Cinéscénie” at night.

The cinescénie was the first show of the park. It’s a light show which tells the story of the family “Maupillier” from the middle Age to the 20th century. This show welcome 400 000 visitors per year. Some famous actor have lended their voice for the show like Alain Delon, Robert Hossein… The cinéscénie represent 1300 actors, 2000 spotlight, 6000 costume and 142 water-jet.

The “Grand Parcours” has a superficy of 45 Ha. In 2009, it is the 4th theme park in France for its frequenting. The “Grand parcours” are also the second in France after Disneyland for its daily frequenting. It’s five main show are : the Vikings, The gladiators, the “bal des oiseaux fantômes”, the “Mousquetaires de Richelieu” and the newness 2010, the “Secret de la lance”.

The Vikings :

It’s the story of a welding in a village of the middle Age. After a little time, the Vikings attack the village with their Longship. A battle begin with some beautiful fire effect.

The gladiators :

In this show, you are in a roman colosseum. In this arena, you can see gladiators fight, chariot racing and some wildcat.

The “Bal des oiseaux fantômes” :

In the ruin of a castle appears some beautiful bird of prey. Eagles, Owl and other vulture fly over your head and sometimes they can alight on these one.

The “Mousquetaires de Richelieu” :

In this show, you discover a magnificent theatre to see the adventure of a musketeer of Richelieu.

The “Secret de la lance” :

This show is the story of Marguerite, a young shepherd of the middle age who discover a magical spear. Marguerite must use this spear to defend her village against enemy soldiers.
